John’s ministry at St Andrew’s began before he became Priest-in-Charge in 2007. When he retired as Rector of St Sampson’s in 1998 he was straightway recruited for eight months locum duty when John Guille left. Subsequently he continued to assist Ryc Smith as required, in between other locum duties at the Town Church, St Stephen’s and elsewhere.
John and his wife Margaret were well used to pastoral versatility since they first came to Guernsey in 1960, and having two ministries off-island in Bangkok and Southampton. Now retired again, living near Arundel and within reach of family members, John continues to take services regularly at local Sussex churches. And he has published two novels on Amazon Kindle, under a pen name John Emmaus!
